  • This replies to your letter of September 13, 1963 addressed to Chairman Seaborg concerning the nuclear power reactor proposed for construction at Bodega Bay.

A report dated Septanher 25,1963 setting forth the results of field work at the alte through June 6,1963 has been submitted to the Atcaio Emergy Commission by the Department of the Interior.

A copy of the AEC public announcement concerning the report is enclosed. You will note that a further geological report has been requested from the Department of the Interior. A copy of the September 25 report is available for public it.spection at the Commission *a public document room at 2111 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, California. Additional copies are being reprtMinced, and I have arranged that one will be sent to you as soon as it la available.

Final action on the Pasific Gas & Electric Company application will not be taken until the additional report requested of the Department of the Interior has been received and evaluated. In addition, a construction permit will not be issued unless the Commission, following a public hearing and a decision tqy the Atomic Safety and Lieenaing Board and consideration of all factors bearing upon safety is convinced that the facility can be con.
