l ~. l .( g l1lY Joe Feuchard, News Service Branch November 7, 19 Division of Public Information, HQ //[/ t - Dale J. Cook, Assistant Information Officer, SAN l I I CALIFORNIA NDCLEAR IWER PIANT PROPOSALS l PI DJC Attached are clips relating to the three active nuclear power plant I proposals here in California. The los Anzeles Times account covering the November 4 hearing before the Regional Planning Commission for a soning variance for the Malibts unit notes more than 300 persons wished to stand up and be counted. The names of Bob Hope and Frankie Lane will probably add stature to j the controversy developing, since they oppose the project. The initial clips covering the San Onofre proposal are " routine" accounts. You may recall that last month the Sonoma County supervisors asked PCM what plans it had in mind for Bodega Head should an AEC permit not be forthcoming. The County received its answer Tuesday. An' account of the response is attached. Of note is the quote: " extensive investigation and preparatory wrk have encovered nothing which, in our (PGM) opinion, would militate against ocr receipt of a construction permit." We will attempt to obtain a copy of the letter for your information. Also, attached is a clip on Bodega's tax-saving potential and an announcement by the utility at the time the Court briefs were filed earlier this weak. Attaclaments: As stated ( Ha,rold.
