Dear Gentlemen:
M g
Recently there has been quite an ordeal taking place at Bodega Head.
All the commotion is about the nuclear power plant thet P.G.E. wishes to install there.
The fact that it is nuclear p wered
- l\\
has led the people to 9 pose such a plant.
To allot 'of people that do not know the facts this plant is perfectly all right.
I know the facts, though, and I'm inclined to go along with the people who are against the building of this plant.
Thereg any thinge that led me to believe that this plant was in A
a bad place for such power.
Orie thing is that the main site for this plant' is 15nelquarter of a mile from a sub-terrainian phault area.
This is the same phault areadwhich caused the San Francisco earthquake of 1906.
Evidently P.G.E.'doesn't care about what This might happen if another shift in the earth might 6ccur.
nuclear power plant has the 150 times the power of the bomb that wins' dropped on Hiroshima.
If this plant should blow up there would be 3,000 deaths, 4,000 injuries, property damage would go up to between two and four billion dollars worth, and there wouldI8s much radio-activity as there would be if we were hit with any other atomic bomb.
P.G.E. says, though, that they have a safety defice for the reactor.
This is true, but the fact of the matter is that this device has never been fully checked..
There are other things that will happen instead of mi ht happen.
6 The most important thing is the radio-active iodine that will be
'b s thrown all over the area from the 3OOffo6t smoke stack that will included with the plant.
This isn't too good because the surrounding area is almost completely dairy farming area.
This will mean that The there will be a certain amount of radio-activity in the milk.
thing that bothers me is that no one has bothered to check up on the v
percent *of it that'will be in the milk..
?
P.G.E. still wants to charge into this thin 6'though, and you
-[
people of the A.E.C. are about the only ones that can stop'them.
As t
I hope you can see, this ought to be 'done.
All your help in this matter will be appreciated.- Thank' you.
f Sincerely yours, 7
