aving weathered earthquakes b both Portland (1950) and c.ureka (1956), the idea of su n darraga being propagated on the proposed power plant beco.cs more chan alarming or f rignnening, it becomes terria ing.

I nave seen solidly built buildings crumble. And, Iroc ta2 twelfth floor of Meier and Frank Company in Portland, whien sway 2d over ten feet and-cracked at the fouren floor lavel, earthquakes became a very real experience to me. I hava reac of the so-called " precautions'! unien will be taken in ene event of an earthquake to protect the residents in the area surrounding the proposed site for tne power plant. I cannot conceive any man-made " safety precautions unich could withstand nature on violen eartnquake rampage. Tne' proximity of the power plant to the San Andreas Fault is tae cause of my concern. Vnat sort of building could you build that would endure ene stresses and. destruction which that Fault could inflict? I urge tnat the Atomic Energy Commission seriously consider locating the proposed nuclear power plant elsewhere than on cne San Andreas Fault at Bodega Head. Among my adverse feelings to the project is the nagging insistent voice of common sense: it tells me that such a plan is foolnardy. 9 m/ 6' /4 Sincerely, f\\ ._f 8 q9 S b e Mrs. Lillian B. -ng, L-g
