i Dear Miss Crawfords On February 16, 1964 you wrote to us concerning the proposed con-struction by Feelfic Cas & Electrie Company of a nuclear power reactor in the Bodega Bay ares. In conneetten with your letter we should like to inforw you that, for the convenience of interested mes6ers of the public, arrangements have been ande to establish and maintain a copy of the public record on the proposed resotor in the Commission's San Francisco operations office at 2111 Bancroft Way in Berkeley. Coeusission's Public Document Room at 1717 H Street, N. W.,
Washington, D. C.
The public record will include a copy of Pacific Gas & Electric Company's application for construction permit, reports of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, notices of hearings, and sisdiar documents required by our regulations to be filed in the public record. You may wish to consult this record fross time to time as a source of current information.
I We are enclosing a pamphlet which describes the procedures relating i
to the licensing of power reactors by the Atomic Energy Comedesion.
We believe that these procedures and their provision for public hearing will enable all interested persons to acquaint themselves with the details of Pacific Gas & Electric Company's application and will assure thorough consideration of all of those aspects of the proposed plant bearing upon questions of health and safety. You will note, however, that the procedures do not relate to questions of soning and the mathetics of a proposed site. These are matters within local and State jurtadiction and are not within the purview of the Atomic Energy Commission.

whether there is reasonable assurance that the proposed reactor can be constructed and operated at the proposed site without undue risk to the health and safety of the public.
