ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION I

-J WASNINGToM 25. D.C.

JAN 3 01964

Dear Mr. Perles:

This is in response to your 1ctter of January 14th concerning the January issue of the Pacific Gas and E1cetric Cornpany's P G and E Progress which contains excerpts from my address entitled "Why Nucicar Power?" deliverod at the national convention of Sigina Delta Chi on November 7, 1963.

'i The Pacific Gas and Electric Company did not advice me of its intention to use portions of my speech in their publication, nor was Iaware of :he articic untilit was called to my attention by your letter as well as others that I have roccived. I regret that this article with its headline may..have created an erronoous impression in your mind.

m.e mo I am enclosing a copy of my Norfolk speech. I believe that a reading of the full text of :he remarks as delivered is probably the best answer I can provide to your letter at this time.
