a committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on May 19.
he hearing was held to act upon the resolution of Supervisor-4 J. Morrison which, if passed, would put San Francisco on record as opposing the Bodega reactor. H e seemittee heard six hours of
" expert testimony" by PG6E witnesses and witnesses fi ' the Worthern California Association to Preserve Bodega Esad and Etebor. At the conclusion of the hearing the committee voted to take the matter "under submission" to afford opportunity for the committee to study the great volums of technical testimony. Dr. Mcdonald testified that local inversions and weak land breeses could result in serious contamination of San Francisco in the event of a major release but ande no attempt to explain how such a release could occur.

McEwen made a very forceful and effective prepared speech which emphasiand the provem safety of boiling water reactors and the nuclear industry in general. The creech was basically nontechnical and aimed at asserf ag the lay public of the safety of the proposed reactor.

The origin of Amendment 7 to the application was questioned at length by Supervisor McCarthy. When asked why PG&E emb-mitted the Avaad=aat PG&E counsel Morrisey stated that i
