sunJECT: CONVERSATION WITH MR. V. R. WILMARTH
~h l
DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR j
I returned Mr. Wilmarth's call of ycaterday (18th)-
and informed him that, since the ACRS meeting at which Schlocker had spoken wes an " educational" and not an " action" meeting, and-since the Regulatory Staff would doubtless be having further j
l discussions with Geologic Survey cn the Bodega case which might l
a result in sritten material not covered by Schlocker's statement, 8
we believe it would be preferable for us to delay the transmittal of any Schlocker (or other) coosnunication at this time until,-
through our "new procedures", the full scope of the issues to be covered had been established.
Mr. Wilmarth readily agreed and stated that nothing further would be sent at this time.
Mr. Wilmarth then, volunteered thac, pertinent to our discussions on Malibu, a revised Malibu report was being prepared and would j
be transmitted to us "in the near future". I replied that'we were j
~
strongly counting on our'new procedures to take over and permit 1
l us the opportunity of informal discussions with Geologic Survey l
before receiving from them additional reports on the projects I
in progress. I indicated to him our intention to schedule informal discussions with them and perhaps also with Coast and Geodetic l
Survey in the near future but suggested that if they completed i
any reports in a preliminary form prior to such discussions, I
they let us know and give us a chance to discuss them informally j
befcre transmittal. He promptly agreed to these suggestions.
