Mr. R. L. Doan, Director Division of Reactor Licensing Atomic Energy Commission Washington, D. C. 2054 5
Dear Mr. Doan:
/
Thank you very much for your letter of December 15 and the information I had requested. You have been very helpful and I greatly appreciate your courtesies.
I must confess that I was not correctly in-formed regarding the structure of the so-called " regulatory staff" of AEC. I had the impression that this was an autonomous advisory group similar to ACRS. However, as I understand the picture now, the " regulatory staff" consists essentially of the Director of Regulation, the Deputy and the assistant directors, and the directors in charge of the various divisions. Iam pleased to have a better understanding now of the general compo-sition of this staff and the high sense of responsibility as exhibited in the Bodega case.
Sincerely yours, f
