A RES011rfION relative to location of an Atomic Power at Bodega Head Whereas, The Pacific Gas and Electric Company has applied to the Atomic 4

Energy Comatierion for a license for construction and operation of a 325,000 megevatt nuclear power reactor at Bodega Head near Santa Rosa, Sonoma County; and

(

Whereas, The site for the proposed neclear power reactor is about 1,000 yards from the San Andreas earthquake fault zone and a scant k0 miles from San Francisco; and Whereas, Secretary of the Interior Stewart L. Udall has expressed grave

concern sbout the seismic hazards in locating the proposed nuclear power reactor in such a location and has stated that he is concerned about the probate adverse L

affects on coastal fisheries in the event of an accident and on the public use of i

the Pt. Reyes National Seashore; and Whereas, It is imperative, in the interests of the health sad safety of the

people of the State of California, and the protection of the natural resources of j

this State, that a study be made of the batarde presented by the location of the

]

proposed nuclear power reactor at Bodega Head; cow, therefore, be it l

Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, That the Assembly of the State of California requests the State Department of Public Health, in con-l junction with the Department of the Interior of the United States, to v.ndertake a study immediately of the proposed location of the nuclear power reactor at

' Bodega Head, and to report thereon to the Assembly of the State of California; and be it further Redolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assenbly is directed to transmit a l

copy of ~this resolution to the Secretary of the Interior of the United States and; I

t to the State Director of Public Eealth.
