Concernias the danger of an " atomic emplosion", there is no danger i that a muelser power reactor auch as that proposed for osastruction at Bodega Bay will explode like an atende er muelear bomb. In addition to external control systems, such remeters peeseos inherent characteristics ubieb are self-limittas with respect to the rate of l1 release of energy. , ,

The. President The White House Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President:

l We of the Amalgamated Lithographers of America, ' Local 17, have written to Secretary Udall in appreciation of his concern with the possible haz-ard to public health involved in the proposed atomic power plant at Bo-idega Bay. We strongly support his suggestion that the U.S. Geological Survey investigate the dangers involved in an installation in the San Andreas Earthquake Zone. ,

, We hope you will use your influence with the Atomic Energy Commission to delay permission for this installation until further alternatives can-j . be explored. The danger of an atomic (icplosi3 which would cover North-

' ern California with fallout deserves careful public consideration of the  !

many lives involved.

As citizens of California, we are also concerned with the destruction of g the mar b if fe _in the immediate area, as well as loss of a uniquely beau- J/\

tiful scenic spot.
