~ i AEC RECEIVES APPLICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION PERMIT FOR PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY POWER REACTOR

The Atomic Energy Commission has received an application  !

from Pacific Gas and Electric Company for a permit to construct {

a 325,000 j electrical kilowatt nuclear power plant at Bodega Bhy, approximately 50 miles northwest of San Francisco. i Construction of the plant, powered by a boiling water reactor, is proposed on a 225-acre tract at the south end of Bodega Head, a peninsula separating Bodega harbor from the Pacific Ocean, '

i The application of PG&E will be reviewed by the AEC regula- i i

tory staff Safeguards.

and by the Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Before the Commission can make a determination on the application, a public hearing, as required by law, must be held.

In view of the public interest in the proposed reactor, AEC has decided that the hearing will be held in California.

Copios of the PG&E application are available for public inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room, 1717 H Street NW, Washington, D. C.,

Operations Office, and at the Commission's San Franci,sco 2111 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, California.
