Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg, Chairman rnited States Atomic Energy Commissio..

Washington 25, D. C.

Dear Dr. Seaborg:

It was gratifying to note in a recent press item that i

the Atemic Energy Commission would be invited to hold hearings i

here in California on the matter of granting permission by your honorable body to the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to proceed

.>ith tne nuclear power plant installation at Bodega Bay. We hope hat the hearing will be in Sonoma Count,y*.^

This letter is by way of indiciting a "second-to-the cotion." In my humble opinion such a hearing held here would do 1

l l

much in the way of allaying.the grave concern that a substantial number of Sonoma County citizens and citizens of other nearby counties feel toward the nuclear plant.

It does not occur to me that such a hearing should be thrown open to unknown multitudes of individuals with scoldering pst poevos, nor to opinionated person possessing chipped axes that need g inding. But, if a few capable spokesmen could be heard wherein certain local findings and conditions were presented in a dignified manner, the A.E.C. might not only find information of value, but in addition the commission.<ould divest itself of much suspicion on the part of the local citizenry.

1 At this time it is important that confidence and trust be r: stored, please believe me.

U.A v 9s very tuly, e
