Dear Mr. Chairn.an:

i I have been advised by Assistant Secretary of the Interior Briggs in response to a query of mine that the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act as amended (lo U.S.C.,

sec. 661 el sea.) appl.ies to applications for permits and licenses to the Atomic Energy Comission for nuclear power installations.

I am concerned about this proble::. because I under-i stand the Pacific Gas & Electric Company is about to apply to the Comission for a construction permit for a reactor at Bodega Bay, Sonorra County, California, in n;y District.

I am particularly concerned about any possible effects on the fishery resources of this area. As a northern Calif-ornian yourself, you are no doubt fandliar wit h the area and the inportance of the fishery.

I would appreciate whatever information you can give me as to the Cornission's plans for carrying out the pro-cedures of the Coordination Act so that you n.ay have before you adequate studies and recxnendations as to any possible effects on fish ana wildlife resources. I earnestly hope the review procedures required by the Act will be rigor-i
