May I present for your consideration a possible solution to scoe problems the.
l l
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is causing.in the San, Francisco tay area'l l
The first problem arose by PG & E's insistance on operating a nuc1 ear power
['
reactor on Bodega Head. As a resident of Berkeley I object to it.because it is
'j I ' ' on a fault line (considered inactive) and adjacent (about 10008 )
]
l
[
of Bodega could shower Berkeley with radioactive contamination.
The second problem is' that PG & E intends to run a power line through the city '
f of Woodside. I can sympathize with those people who have had to pay a large amount for property, are required to pay tremendous-real estate taxes, then have.
their property devaluated ly an ugly string of transmission towers.
I suggest that PG&E stop work on Bodega kad before they desecrate that
""~
area any more, set up the nuclear plant they insist they must have but put it.
along the peninsula ocean shore directly opposite the proposed 2 mile long
__,- r accelerator, then run what' could is just a short electric power line to the P
Stanford site. Possible reactor sites could be the mouth of Tunitas Creek, the I
."Jn
,+S uouth of San Gregorio Creek, or the mouth of Butano Creek; all are at least l'
7 miles from W nearest earthquake fault line. By such a move both problems Cp-
- C#
would solved, - - - Woodside would be bypassed, and h objection to h installation at Bodega Head would be eliminated.
I have just received in the mail a copy of the latest printing of Robert j
~a Iacopi's book " California Is Earthquake Country." It is very enlightening; P.;N.
if you are sufficient 17' interested to read it, in particular the chapter entitled cassi Eg "Bolinas Lagoon to Bodega Head", I would be willing to order a copy to donate
.c r
Kj to h AEC.
