Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412 Completion of Environmental Qualification for BVPS-2 EQ Packages / Compliance with 10CFR50.49 Gentlemen:
This letter is provided for the NRC/NRR staff as a notification that the Environmental Qualification (EQ) effort for BVPS-2 has been completed.
This includes:
- 1) the completion of 97 BVPS-2 EQ packages in harsh areas which have been accepted by DLC as demonstrating compliance to 10CFR50.49; 2) the completion of the BVPS-2 mechanical equipment qualification packsges; and 3) resolution of all NRC EQ review and audit concerns.
The maintenance /
surveillance requirements due to environmental qualification have been estab-lished and the maintenance / surveillance program is in effect to maintain EQ during the BVPS-2 plant life.
There have been two recently identified potential 10CFR50.55(e) items regarding improper sealing of BVPS-2 EQ Program Equipment.
These items are identified as Significant Deficiency Report (SDR) 87-16 and 87-17 involving 2/
Target Rock SOVs,19 RDF RTDs and 4 Reed position indicators.
These items will be reviewed under the BVPS-210CFR50.55(e) evaluation process which requires a written report submitted to the NRC within 30 days.
The above information is being provided to assist the NRC/NRR staff in completing the EQ section of the BVPS-2 SER.
