Status Report for Week Ending July 13, 1974 Pacific Gas and Electric Conpany Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant, Units 1 & 2 Docket Nos. 50-275/323 Based on the outcome of the 7/5/74 meeting with the applicant regarding offshore faults, a schedule change has been submitted

which calls for issuance of the supplement to the SER on.11/22/74, and start of the safety hearing on 1/6/,75. This constitutes about a six week slip in start of hearing from the previously estimated date of.11/18/74. The staff and USGS are concerned that the applicant may not be able to prove, using conventional dating methods, that the offshore faults are not capable. The app'11 cant plans to use regional geological arguments to demonstrate that there is not a e

major capable structure offshore which could cause ground motions at the site greater than the safe shutdown earthquake.
