SUBJECT:
RECOMMENDATION FOR DIABLO CANYON BOARD NOTIFICATION Region V has been informed of two potentially reportable events which recently occurred at Diablo Canyon Unit 1.
The first event involves potentially inadequate welds in the Component Cooling Water System piping. The initial written notification and Preliminary Notification No. PNO-V-83-21 are attached as Attachment 1.
The second event involves a potential violation of minimum wall thickne$s in a Reactor Coolant System pipe. The initial written notification and Preliminary Notification No. PNO-V-83-22, describing the event, are attached as.
The Region will follow these events through resolution.
The Region recommends that these topics be brought to the attention of the Diablo Canyon licensing board.
