SUBJECT:
RECOMMENDATION FOR DIABLO CANYON BOARD NOTIFICATION Region V has been informed of an incident involving damage to a reactor.
coolant pipe at Diablo Canyon Unit 1.
The initial written notification of the incident was provided on April 21, 1983 (Attachment 1).
Subsequently, after concluding that the damage was intentional, the licensee made a verbal report to the NRC on April 22, 1983, in accordance with 10 CFR Part 73.
The-j Region is currently examining the licensee's response to this incident.
The Region recommends this topic be brought to the attention of the Diablo Canyon licensing board.
