Dear Mr. Fleischaker:
i
SUBJECT:
DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR PLANT SEISMIC DESIGN DEFICIENCIES During the 264th ACRS meeting, members of the Committee discussed your letter of March.23, 1982, which requests that the ACRS rescind its ap-proval for issuance of an operating license and reopen its review of the Diablo Canyon seismic design because of seismic design deficien-cies which have been reported at this plant.
Review of the Diablo Canyon plant seismic design deficiencies has j
been referred to the cognizant ACRS Subcommittee. This Subcommittee is being kept informed regarding the audit and reevaluation of the seismic design of the Diablo Canyon plant and will report its find-ings to the full Committee at an appropriate time regarding the significance of these deficiencies and related corrective action.
The Subcommittee findings will also address the basis for changes, if any, in the ACRS position regarding proposed operation of the Diablo plant.
1 Sincerely yours,
