2.1.3 Mechanical Equipment - Refers to items which are detailed on the C&R equipment list, e.g.,
tanks, pumps, demineralizers, packaged systems, etc.
2.1.4 Mechanical Items - Used to denote both mechanical equipment and materials.
2.1.5 "Q" - Safety related items as defined in the Final Sa fety Analysis Report (FSAR).
2.1.6 Instalked Equipment - Equipment is considered installed when all appropriate steps described through Paragraph 4.2.11 have been l

08/01/84 3 o f 10 2.1.7 Equipment Stored-In-Place - Equipment is considered " Stored-In-Place" when it is stored in the general or immediate area of its permanent location. Equipment may be preliminarily aligned and still be considered " Stored-In-Place".
2.1.8 Erected Equipment - Equipment which is' built on the jobsite, i.e.,
main condensers, field fabricated tanks, etc.
2.1.9 Angular (Tace to Face) Aligrrnent - The ceasure of angularity between the shafts of driver and driven units.
It is measured in terms of the maximum difference in the axial distance between j
the selected points on the faces of couplits halves when rotated as if coupled and readings taken at certain increment.

2.1.10 Parallet (Rim to Rim) Alignment - The measure of eccentrity between the axis of shafts of driver and driven units.

3.0 SPECIAL ITEMS AND OPERATIONS l
3.1 All tools, measuring devices or equipment which are supplied by the manufacturer for construction purposes shall be returned to the manufacturer or turned over to the Owner as appropriate.
3.2 Procurits special materials, e.g., bolts, nuts, gaskets, lubri-cants, etc., shall be coordinated by construction and Engineering.

3.3 Electric horizontal motors drivirs rotatirs eachinery shall be set on the magnetic center for the coupling aligranent check and the couplits gap determination unless otherwise specified on the Traveler, or by vendor instructions. For motors equipped with anti-friction bearirigs, the motor is placed on a magnetic center at the time of motor installation.

All erection, installation, and testing shall be performed in accordance with I
the representative's instructions provided these instructions do not conflict with the equipment manual and applicable specifications.
In the event that the representative's instructions conflict with the equipment manual or specification, the PME will request the Owner to initiate the appropriate design change.
4.1.5 B&R will use the construction schedule in planning its required activitie s.
In the event early installation is deemed desirable, f
the craft superintendent shall inform Engineering as to the intended installatio'n date so appropriate instructions, etc.,

Construction / Engineering will coordinate schedulirs interferences with project scheduler.
4.1.6 Equipment handling - All equipment shall be handled in accordance with B&R Construction Procedure No. 3 5-1195-CCP-2.4 and/or an appropriate traveler. Fo r ro t.r ing e~quipment, the coupling between the equipment and the dr ver shall be disconnected prior to the start of the following activities:

4.1.7 Coatings and Prepervatives - During installation, all coatings and preservatives applied to equipment for protection during shipment and temporary storage shall be completely removed unless otherwise directed by the vendor's instructions, the Owner, or as specified on the traveler.

4.1.8 Shims - Shims shall be located adjacent to all anchor bolts at su fficient intermediate points to assure complete alignment of equipme nt.

for thermal expansion as shown on the vendor design or the engineer's design drawings, the bolts shall be located in the center of the slot + 1/16." The nuts on anchor bolts shall be brought to a hand tight condition. Anchor bolts on equipment that requires a sliding i
and shaLL also have double nuts or locking nuts installed if sufficient bolt projection exists.
If sufficient anchor bolt le ngth is not available for the instattation of the double or locking nut, the threads of the anchor bolt shall be upset or the bolt staked accordingly. Half nuts shall be considered adequate for locking or double nut.
Providirg locking out or double nut is not installed, a minimiss bolt projection of one and one-half threads past the top of the anchor bolt nut shall be required to provide adequate space fbr upsetting of anchor bolt threads or staking of the anchor bolt. For anchor bolts with locking nuts installed, anchor bolts as a minimum must be, flush with top of anchor bolt.

Concrete expansion anchor bolts shall not be used for the installation of rotating equipment or for applications subject to vibratory loading that are within the scope of this procedure.

l 4.1.12 Any equipment setting /alisment problems shall be reported to Engineerirs for resolution.
4.1.13 Calibrated tools and gauges shall be used for final measurements.

Where the two conflict, the more stringent of the two shall be used.
Only one aligreent check may be docuctented on a record. The aligtme nt shall be reviewed by either Quality Engineering for Q items or by Engineering for BOP items. After completion of the record, the record shall be distributed in accordance with Para-graph 4.1.15.
