Washington, D.C. 20555 NRC- Peter Bradford My name is Karen Calhoun and I as writing this lett.er in accordance to the operating of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant. After doing research into the present situation, I have found several alarming facts:

1. The Diablo Canyon nuclear reactors are sited just 2) miles from the active Hosgri earthquake fault, and according to the U.S. Geological Survey, this fault could produce a quake 10 times stronger than the plant could stand.
2. A meltdown at Diablo could kill 45.000 people, injure 100.000, and contaminate most of California for thousands of years (according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission).
3. Each year the plant will churn out 500 pounds of plutonium viaste- a poison which lasts for 240,000 years.

i This is only the beginning of a list of facts that go on, ,

and I feel that this situation desperately needs re-evaluating.

I urge you to look seriously into the matter. l Thank You, Karen Calhoun ns_ (
