Dear Commissioner,
As a registered voter I want to exercise my right and responsibility to communicate my feelings to you. Based on considerable evidence I have investigated, I do not believe nuclear energy is a rational, moral source for powering our nation. Nuclear energy is neither economical nor in the public interest in view of the safety hasards involved. The combined cost of commissioning and decommissioning a plant prohibits economical feasibility.
l' The statistics related to persons who live near power plants and the known increases in cancers, leukemias, and birth defects indicate their insidious dangers. More obvious has been the deaths of workers as well as the near tragediss related to plutionius leakages and storage (Detroit, Hanford et al).
On December 4,1978 you will begin hearings regarding the San Luis Obispo site for a pc ser plant. I hope you will not allow this plant to open on a known earthquake fault. The potential for tragedy is staggering and alares se greatly. I as in support of the individuals who have committed civil disobedience by occupying this and other nuclear power plants. I strongly believe these people are acting from conscience and with courage by drawing public attention to this danger. My position is that these individuals should not be treated as criminals but rather revered for their demonstrative acts. I hope the future will not record that American morality has deteriorated to the extent that our nation allowed the exposure of thousands of future generations to deadly radioactive wastes merely in the interest of recouping losses in an unwise investment.
Sincerely, M
