, NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF CONSTRUCTICN PERMITS Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to the Partial Initial Decision 4

dated August 22, 1977, the Partial Initial Decision dated December 9,1977, and the Initial Decision dated April 4,1978 of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board, the Nuclear Regulatory Ccmission (the Comission) has issued Construction Permits Nos. CPPR-170 and CPPR-171 to Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. and Wabash Valley Power Association, Inc. for construction of two pressurized water nuclear reactors at the applicants' site in Saluda Township, Jefferson County, Indiana. 'Ihe proposed facility is known as tne Marole Hill Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2.

Each unit is designed for a rated power of 3411 megawatts thermal with a net electrical output of 1130 megawatts.

Tne Initial Decision is suoject to review by an Atomic Safety and Licensing A; peal Board prior to its becoming final. Any decision or action taken by an Atomic Safety and Licensing Appeal Board in connection with this Decision may be reviewed oy the Comission.

'Ihe Comission has made appropriate findings as required by the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), anc the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, wnich are set forth in the construction permits. standards and requirements of the Act and the Comission's rules and regulations.

Each construction permit is effective on the date of issuance. The earliest cate for co@letion of Unit 1 is January 1,1982, and the latest date for completion is January 1,1984. The earliest date for expletion of Unit 2 is January 1,1984, and the latest date for cmpletion is Jaruary 1, 1966. The permits shall expire on the latest date for completior of each unit.

CPPR-170 and CPPR-171; (3) the report of the Advisory Comittee on Reactor Safeguards dated October 22, 1976; (4) the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation's Safecy Evaluation Report (NUREG-0115) dated June 1977, and Supplement 1 dated July 1977; (5) the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report and amendments thereto; (6) the applicant's Environmental Report and amendments thereto; (7) tne Draf t Environmental Statement (tEREG-0048) dated Maren 1976; (8) the Final Environmental Statement (cCREG-0997) dated Septenter 1976, are availacle for puolic inspection at the Comission's Puolic Document Room 1
