GRAND GULF UNIT 1 ONSITE/0FFSITE PONER ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM i

The applicant submitted a description of their prcposed onsite/offsite power enhancement program on February 26, 1984. The purpose of this program is to provide a measure of increase assurance of their capability to safely shutdown durino a station blackout (loss of all AC). This event is postulated as the

loss of the three offsite power sources with the concurrent failure of the two onsiw Transamerica DeLaval, Inc. diesel generators due to problens similar to those experienced at Shoreham.

1 The Auxiliary Systems Branch has reviewed the portion of this TAC which falls in our area of responsibility.

The applicant provided a list of the minimum required electric powered components needed for safe shutdown (Table.VI-I,

" Essential AC Loads"). We have reviewed this list and find it acceptable with the inclusion of the emergency lighting load identified in FSAR Section 8.3.

This evaluation is provided for incorporation into your safety evaluation report concerning this program. This completes our work on TAC No. Sa222.
