October 29, 1973 Note to File CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT, JERSEY CENTRAL 'OWER & LIGHT CO.

I colled Dr. Bartnuff, President, JCP&L, on Friday, October 26, 1973 The purpose of the conversation was to highlight the significance of the November 5, 1973 meeting with him and Mr. Kuhns, President, GPU. Dr. Bartnuff recognized the significance of the meeting. He appreciated the purpose of my call - assuring M he was fully owore of our expectations.

Dr. Bartnuff appeared to recognize the seriousness of the situation. I feel he will be prepared to discuss the many problems at Jersey Centrol and to provide us with planned actions on the part of their company. I reiterated that actions should be

Proper cooling capacity is avail-able with one set of numps in one system.

Th e ik. I sy.ste:a had demon;trated availability of ti;o sets of pumps along with.i ts ass (>ciat ed heat c.xchangers.

To prevent a reoccurrence of this type failure, the Yuba lleat Transfer Corp. will be contacted to:

a)

Review the repair and recc:ra.end additional in:;pection and/or repair if decraed necessary, b)

Investigate the advicability of installing cathodic protection on the heat exchangers.
