Thank you for your recent letter enclosing correspondence from your constituent. Moe Hamilton, concerning the nuclear power plant under construction at setsop. Washington.
Your constituent is referring to the two-unit nuclear facility being built by the Weshington Public Power Supriy Systen. near Satsop.
Construction perrits were issued by thc NT,0 in April 1970 af ter sefety design and environmental revim and after public hearings conducted by an inde-pendent Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.
The construction site is visited regularly by MRC inspectors and the license
- is required to maintain a vigorous quality assurance program.
WFPS$ has not yet applied for licenses to operate the two units, which will net be co-clete:' until the mid-1980's.
Vtien WPP55 does apply, there will be ar. opportunity for concerned citizens who uy t>c effected by the f acility to request a public hearing and to raise any concerns which they may havt.
