This letter is to confirm our verbal report to the NRC Resident Inspector on Thursday, May 26, 1983, advising of a reportable occurrence in accordance with Technical specifications, section 6.9.1.8.b. At 1225 hours, May 25, 1983, during routine shutdown operation, No. 2C Vital Instrument Bus Inverter was taken i out associatedof service A.C.forelectrical planned maintenaace, rondering the bus train inoperable. No. 2A Diesel Generator and its associated train were inoperable at the time, requiring entry into Action Statement 3.8.2.2. 4 Unexpected problems were encountered during maintenance on the No. 2C Inverter. The containment air locks could not be inunediately closed, however, and containment integrity l was atatement. not established within 8 hours as required by the action
