.s Power C O m P O R A T s O se June 15,1983 3F-0683-07 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. John F. Stolz, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No. 4 Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555

Subject:

Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 Environmental Qualification of Safety Related Electrical Equipment

Dear Sir:

On November 6,1981, Florida Power Corporation (FPC) submitted, to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, its response to the June 5,1981, NRC Safety Evoluotion Report for Crystal River Unit 3. In that submittal, FPC made certain commitments to perform additional analyses and investigations. The supplemental information to satisfy these commitments is contained in the attached Volumes 3 and 4 of " Environmental Qualification of Class IE Equipment." As discussed with Mr. M. B. Fairtile on June 14, 1983, FPC is enclosing two (2) copies of these documents.

Volume 3 of this submittal provides the following:

1.

Equipment Qualification Report Review Records.

2.

Material Aging Analyses & Support Documentation.

3.

Chemical Spray Evaluation and Analysis.

4.

Local Control Station Failure Analysis Criteria.

Volume 4 of the submittal contains System Component Evaluation Worksheets which have been revised as a result of the analysis and evaluation effort described in Volume 4 and the additional guidance received from the NRC since Volumes I and 2 were submitted in November,1981.

Florida Power Corporation believes that this data, combined with the May 20,1983, response to the NRC's January iI,1983, Safety Evaluation Report, provide a complete response to the recently published rule, 10CFR50.49, NUREG-0588, and IE Bulletin 79-01B.
