MEMORANDUM FOR: Record MAY 3 01980
SUBJECT:
NRC Productivity Reporting On Friday May 30,1980 Darlene Forte of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) came by.
She did so at my request to review our draft inputs of the revised Productivity Data.
Darlene is a part time employee with BLS and she does not work on Friday's. Hence her visit was effectively on her own time.
For backround information on why we are revising our Productivity Data see my memo of May 9th on Productivity.
After reviewing and discussing our inputs in some detail, Darlene stated that the revised inputs were in agreement with their needs.
I told her that I would get the data typed, coordinated and forwarded to her in the next few days. She advised that BLS needed to have the data by Monday June 2,1980.
I then told her that I couldn't get it typed, forwarded and physically in her hands by Monday.
Darlene advised that she would be willing to accept the data in draft form provided that it was all right with us.
I advised her that you were out on sick leave today and that I would not have a chance to'see you before Monday.
She said that she would accept the data in draft and that I could clear it with you on Monday and then advise her by telephone.
By handling the matter in this manner we would not have to make a formal submission of the data.
I advised her that I saw no problem in this approach and I therefore provided her with a copy of the draft data.
I also advised that we could follow this up with a formal submission of the data in the next few days.
She again advised that as far as she is concerned a formal followup was not necessary. A telephone call in the morning would suffice (Monday June 2nd).
Our business being concluded Darlene departed about 10:45 AM.
