e May 9, 1980 MEMORANDUM FOR:
Record FROM:
Joseph J. Mate Resources Planning and Evaluation, CON
SUBJECT:
NRC PRODUCTIVITY REPORTING IN FY 1979 Darlene Forte (NRC's productivity contact from Bureau of Labor Statistics) called late yesterday afternoon to discuss our productivity input for FY 1979.
BLS has been unable to link our FY 1979 data with our previous submissions in FYs 1977 and 1978 due to our method of staffyear computation in FY 1979.
In FY 1979 we switched from reflecting total staffyears to reflecting only pro-fessional staffyears expended.
It is this change in the data that is causing the problem.
According to Darlene, we have three options available to correct the problem.
Regardless of which option we choose, the data needs to be at BLS not later than noon Thursday, May 29th.
The options available to us are identified below:
a.
Show only direct labor for all fiscal years (FYs 77,78,79);
b.
Continue to show data as we did in FYs 77 and 78; c.
Split data out as follows:
Direct - measured activities Direct - not measured activities Indirect - overhead This subject as well as the options were discussed with Dr. Triner and it was determined that option C (split out the data) was to be employed in correcting the data.
This option also is the most desirable to BLS.
It is anticipated that the revisions can be completed in 10 days to two weeks.
