}l3l0ll Mechanicall*/ stuck contacts in the valve position limit switch prevented the logic l

mI relay from de-energizing.

The-contacts were mechanically exercised to relieve the I

igl stiffness and the PT was performed satisfactorily.

All other valve limit switches l

!li13l l were checked =and found satisfactory.

These switches are checked monthly and do not l i

1i141-l have a history of failure.

LER ATTACIB!ENT - RO # 1-80-75 Facility:

BSEP Unit No. 1 Event Date:

09-12-80 A recent plant modification on the HSIV's involved the installation of new valve position limit switches.

The mechanical stiffness c.f the limit switch contacts is believed to have been caused by the relative newness of the switch and its short time in use.

The limit switch will be inspected during the next outage of sufficient length to assure that no problems are developing.
