Dear Sir:
In response to Mr. Stello's letter of January 25, 1978, Florida Power Corporation is formulating plans for addressing the asymmetric loss-of-coolant (LOCA) loads issue. It is too early at this time for these plans to be definitive. We have been working in the asymmetric LOCA loads subject areas since being notified in October,1975, by the NRC, of a potential safety question and look forward to a complete and ordarly resolution of this issue for all B&W operating plants. l l
As a result of receiving Mr. Stello's letter on February 6,1978, '
Florida Power Corporation has met with the other members of the B&W Owners' Group to discuss the contents of the letter. This meeting led us to believe that further c'larification by the NRC of the various requirements contained in Mr. Stello's letter is necessary before we can proceed with the development of a detailed schedule and work scope. l 1
In order for Florida Power Corporation and the other members of the B&W l Owners' Group to obtain the desired clarification, it is requested that i a NRC-B&W Owners' Group meeting be scheduled in mid-March. Mr. Lou Lanese, of GPU Service Corporation, Chairman of the B&W Owners' Group Committee on Reactor Vassel Supports, will be contacting Mr. M ello in the near future to discuss the details of the requested meeting.
