Leak-Before-Break Analysis (TAC No. 06596)
By letter dated August 4, 1987, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requested that Portland General Electric (PGE) provide' additional l information regarding the elimination of dynamic effects of postulated primary loop pipe ruptures front the design basis for the Trojan Nuclear Plant. PGE responded in an Aupst 25, 1987 letter that the information requested by the staff would be provided by December 31,-1987.
In the interim since the submittal of the August 25, 19g7 letter,.PGE has discussed the NRC questions with the NRC staff in order to obtain clari-fications. As a result, PGE has changed contractors for the leak-before-break analysis. This change was determined to be necessary to develop and ensure an adequate response to the staff'r voquest for information.
As a result of the time taken to evaluate and uelect a new contractor, PGE will not be able to meet the December 31, 1987 submittal date. A complete submittal will be made on or before January 29, 1988 in response ,
to your request for additional information. .
