LER AITACEMENT - RO #1-80-33 Facility: BSEP Unit No. 1 Event Date: May 26, 1980 The fuses on the drive mechanism for SRM B were found blown because the mechanism had become jammed on the undercore platform while withdrawing. The fuses were replaced, the mechanism inspected and raised, and the undercore platform aligned its correct position. Several IRMs and SRMs have been damaged during this outage as well as past outages due.to withdrawing the detectors when the platform-is not correctly positioned. An Engineering Work Request has been initiated request-ing that an interlock between the platform and the withdrawing of IRMs and SKMs be installed.

The pulse height discriminator on SRM C was found to be out of adjustment. A functional check on the SRMs is performed weekly during refueling and prior to any startup. As this is the first occurrence of this nature, this is considered

~an isolated event and no further action is required.
