POWER AUTHORITY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK J AMES A. Fl'iZ.~.iTRICK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DOCKET NO. 50-333 ATTACHMENT TO LER 79-071-OlT-0 Page 1 of I During normal operation, as the result of the Pipe Stress Reanalysis being conducted by the Architect Engineer, the plant staff was notified that pipe support H15-124 on the Emergency Service Water return piping to the lake was inoperable. As set forth in the August 14, 1979 letter li f ting the Show Cause Order of March 13, 1979, further analysis was performed which showed this piping to become inoperable wi thout this support. Since this portion of the Emergency Service Water System does not adversely effect the ability of the system to per-form its intended safety function the seven (7) day time frame for modifications described in the August 14, 1979 letter applies.

Modification of H15-124 was completed within the seven (7) day time frame.

Since the affected piping was downstream of components cooled by Emergency Service Water, the support would not, in its original design condition, have affected the plant's ability to achieve ccid shutdown. The re fore , the event did not represent any significant hazard to the public health and safety.
