SUBJECT: U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION ACKNOWLEDGMENT LETTER

FOR DISPUTED NON-CITED VIOLATION 05000317/2018001-01

Dear Mr. Hanson:

This letter acknowledges a letter sent by Mr. Mark D Flaherty, Site Vice President Calvert Cliffs

Nuclear Power Plant, to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), dated June 7, 2018,

(ML18162A076 1) that provided a response to our Inspection Report issued on May 9, 2018,

concerning activities conducted at your Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant. The letter we received

contested a Non-Cited Violation (NCV) documented in Calvert Cliffs Inspection Report 05000317/2018001 and 05000318/2018001 (ML18130A878). The contested NCV is NCV

05000317/2018001-01: Failure to Conduct Adequate Radiation Surveys and Evaluate Potential

Radiological Hazards.

We are currently reviewing your basis for contesting the above NCV. The NRC seeks to be

thorough and timely in the review of licensee responses. Accordingly, we will inform you as

soon as we complete our evaluation. The NRC intends to provide you a letter documenting the

basis for any decision relative to the disputed NCV within approximately 90 days.

This letter will be made available for public inspection and copying at

http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html and at the NRC Public Document Room in

accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding.
