CLOSURE OF INVESTIGATION (014-2015-008)

Dear Mr. McCann:

This refers to an investigation conducted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's)

Office of Investigations regarding activities at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. The Office of Investigations initiated the investigation to determine whether an assistant supervisor of carpenters with Chicago Bridge and Iron, Chicago, Illinois, a contractor to Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Port Gibson, Mississippi, willfully instructed Chicago Bridge and Iron employees under his supervision not to report a radio being dropped by Chicago Bridge and Iron personnel in the foreign material exclusion area within containment at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station.

Based on the evidence developed during the investigation, the issue that an assistant supervisor of carpenters with Chicago Bridge and Iron willfully instructed Chicago Bridge and Iron employees under his supervision not to report a radio being dropped by Chicago Bridge and Iron personnel in the foreign material exclusion area within containment at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station was not substantiated. The NRC plans no further action related to the willful aspect of this allegation and considers this investigation closed .
