UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 April 29, 2015 Mr. Cleanan Watkins, Acting President Delaware Nation P.O. Box 825 Anadarko, OK 73005

SUBJECT:

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE FINAL SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 1

Dear President Watkins:

Please find enclosed a copy of the final NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 52, Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1. The final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) is being issued as part of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) process to decide whether to issue a renewed operating license to FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), for Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 (DBNPS). In the final SEIS, the NRC staff determined that the adverse environmental impacts of a renewed license for DBNPS are not great enough to deny this option for energy planning decision-makers. In the context of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, NRC staff determined that no historic properties will be affected by the proposed action (license renewal). The final environmental impact statement, will accompany the final Safety Evaluation Report to be considered in the Commission's license renewal decisionmaking process.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Russell Chazell, at 301-415-5003 or by e-mail at Russell.Chazell@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
