Site  : SALEM Emergency Class  : NON EMERGENCY "At approximately 1013 EDT on March 31, 2014, a live sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 2 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The sturgeon was confirmed by a site biological expert to be an Atlantic sturgeon which is an

'endangered' species. Atlantic sturgeons are federally listed as 'endangered' species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hour4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a.

"At approximately 1030 EDT, the sturgeon was released back into the Delaware River following identification.

"A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 1105 and the NJDEP Division of Fish And Wildlife at 1103, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon by Environmental Licensing."

The Licensee will notify the NRC Resident Inspector and the Lower Alloways Creek Township.

Notified the R1DO (Cahill) and the NRC Endangered species group via email.
