DRAFT-RAIs to PPL RELIEF REQUEST 1RR05 Attachments: DRAFT 4th IST RRs RAIs.pdf Mr. Filchner, By letter dated October 8, 2013, as supplemented by letter dated December 12, 2013, PPL Susquehanna, LLC (the licensee), submitted relief request 1RR05 for Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Unit 1. The proposed relief request is associated with the fourth 10-year inservice testing interval. Specifically, pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 50.55a(a)(3), the licensee requested the use of an alternative for four (4) check valves (086018, 086118, 086241, and 086341) from certain requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Operation and Maintenance Code Section ISTC-3522(c).
The NRC staff has reviewed the information submitted by the licensee, and based on this review, determined additional information is required to complete the assessment of the submitted information. Please find attached Draft Requests For Additional Information. They are being sent to you to ensure that the questions are understandable, the regulatory basis for the questions are clear, and to determine if the information was previously docketed. Please respond to me by Wednesday, January 29, 2013, and notify me if you desire to hold a teleconference to discuss the question. The NRC staff will request a response to the RAIs within 30 days of the formal NRC RAI transmittal letter.
