Women Occupy San Diego General Comment Women Occupy San Diego (womenoccupysandiego.org) is an independent group of women who are fed up with the concentration of wealth and political power in the top 1% and the corruption of democracy for corporate profit. We are moms, grandmas, sisters, neighbors and friends. We vote, we pay taxes, we buy, we work, we create -and we want our democracy back from Big Money. We concur with the recent judgment of the three-judge panel of the Atomic Safety Licensing Board that the damage to San Onofre's steam generator tubes is "unprecedented" in the U.S. nuclear industry, and that Edison's restart scheme is a risky and unproven "experiment." The ASLB made clear that Edison's restart plan violates the terms of San Onofre's operating license. The process under which the NRC is currently reviewing the utility's request, including the agency's preliminary finding of No Significant Hazards, in no way addresses the major safety issues plaguing the nuclear reactor. The ASLB found that the destructive vibrations in the San Onofre steam generators at San Onofre are not taken into account in the reactor's official safety blueprint.

These are not being addressed either in the current license application or Edison's restart plan.Women Occupy San Diego stands with the elected officials from San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles Counties who have spoken out against the NRC staff s reckless finding of No Significant Hazard to restart the damaged and defective Unit 2 nuclear reactor at San Onofre. Good government demands an ADJUDICATED LICENSE AMENDMENT HEARING PROCESS.SUNSI Review Complete Template = ADM -013 E-RIDS= ADM-03 Add= B. Benney (bjb)m........ , ...............
