stuff Eric, I am well, hope you are also. Probably the biggest change from my perspective about the OFI is that Melanie Galloway is no longer the DRA Deputy Director. That has changed the intensity of DRA's scrutiny of the issue.

A significant difference between Ft. Calhoun and ONS is that the issue at FC is currently a storm/PMP issue only. The region has not yet addressed dam failures. The region is waiting to see how the issue is resolved with ONS before they decide what to do with FC.

In any case, why don't we talk on Friday and we can fill in the gaps.

Jeff, I trust that you are well.

So what is going on with the Oconee flood issue?

I don't understand why the Oconee issue is treated so much differently than a Fort Calhoun flooding issue, which is discussed in today's edition of NRC in the News...

NRC Faults Fort Calhoun's Flood Risk Plans. The Omaha World-Herald (8/12, Ruff) reports on the NRC's determination that Fort Calhoun Plant's plans to "protect one of its buildings from a worst-case flood might be inadequate and could pose a safety risk." The "Omaha Public Power District, which runs the plant, disagrees 1 . -3_0

and will contest the preliminary findings during a regulatory conference Aug. 18 in Arlington, Texas, OPPD spokesman Jeff Hanson said." The "building, which is closer to the Missouri River than the plant itself, houses pumps that bring water from the river to the plant for cooling, NRC spokeswoman Lara Uselding said. The June inspection was prompted by recent flooding along the river but wasn't related to any specific incident at the plant, Uselding said."

The AP (8/12) reports, "Federal regulators want to talk to Omaha Public Power District about flood safety" at Fort Calhoun and have scheduled an "Aug. 18 conference at NRC offices in Arlington, Texas, [to] cover the safety significance, causes and fixes. The NRC says shortcomings in the flood plan were found during an inspection in June. Inspectors say the plant's flood-protection plan might not adequately protect safety systems if the Missouri were to severely flood," but OPPD "spokesman Mike Jones says the utility is confident of its ability to protect the power plant during a flood."

The initiating frequency was wrong, and the white flood barrier breach should have been yellow. The sanitary system should have been a red finding ... I should have DPO'd that one... and the inadequate protection issue is huge and should not be withheld from the public. The licensee has asked numerous times why the agency has tagged the issue as OUO SRI. They believe that the dam is not vulnerable to a bad guy attack.

As you know by now, I transferred to the TTC so I am completely out of the loop.

Have a great day.
