C> s - - _ - V -- -- L U- 5 NOP-CC-2003-01 Rev. 01 a BV1 EnBV2 l DB PY Statement of Problem While disassembled for maintenance, RCPs P36-1 and P36-2 were discovered to have a previously undocumented recessed machine surface on the pump case. This machined surface was most likely cut duing the original machining operation of the pump case. A review of the Byron Jackson fabrication records has been unable to confirm this.

The additional machined recess requires that the pump cover outside diameter be smaller than the outside diameter of the machined recess on the case. The measured diameter of both pump covers is 49.50 inches. P36-1 case recess outside diameter measures 49.34 inches and P36-2 measures 49.50 inches.

This dimensional stack-up will lead to an improper fit on the P36-1 pump and a potential for an improper fit on P36-2, which could cause inadequate gasket compression and eventual jolint leakage, Proposed Change (Description, Purpose, Scope)

Enlarge ReactorCoolant Pump 1-1 and 1-2covers existing (0.015 inch x45 degree) chamferto 0.10 inch x45 degree to ensure proper cover to case fit per the vendor (FlowServe) recommendations.

This will ensure proper fit between the pump cover and case (i.e metal to metal joint design).
