Enclosure 1 PG&E Letter DCL-02-131 OCTOBER 2002, OPERATION SUMMARIES DIABLO CANYON POWER PLANT UNITS I AND 2 Summary of Unit 1 Operation Unit 1 began October in Mode 1 (Power Operation) at approximately 98 percent power.

Operators kept the unit curtailed 2 percent to limit vibration in the main generator. On October 12, operators reduced power to approximately 53 percent in order to repair condenser tube leaks. On October 13, operators returned the unit to approximately 98 percent power. On October 20, operators reduced power and separated Unit 1 from the grid at 14:02 PDT in order to perform planned turbine generator maintenance. On October 27, Unit I entered Mode 5 (Cold Shutdown).

Summary of Unit 2 Operation Unit 2 remained in Mode 1 at approximately 100 percent power during October. There were no significant operational activities.

Actuations of Safety or Pressurizer Power Operated Relief Valves There were no challenges to the pressurizer power operated relief valves, pressurizer safety valves, or steam generator safety valves.
