Site Tour The NRC inspector toured the Unit 1 Mechanical Electrical Auxiliary Building and the Unit 2 Reactor Containment Building to observe activities in oro-gress and to inspect housekeeping.

No violations or deviations were identified.

3.

Licensee Action on Show Cause Order Commitments The NRC inspector reviewed imolementation of the commitments in the licensee's response to the Show Cause Order by discussions witn licensee and contractor representatives and by review of commitments described in the attachment to the HL'P letter ST-HL-AE-533, dated September la,1980.

The following commitments, utilizing the identification numoers in the attachment to the HL&P letter, were reviewed:

(0 pen) Item A36: The Weld Review Program has been documented in TRD 5A700GP004 The TRD will be uodated oericaically to incorocrate changes in the results of the program.

The NRC inscector was informed that the final recort by the scecial Task Force has been delayed until March 15, 1981.

This item will remain open ;ending issuance of the final recort.

I (0 pen) Item A70: The engineering saecifications and construction procedures have been reviewed for consistency and compliance with PSAR/FSAR. The NRC inspector w'as informed that the issuance of the final report has been delayed until March 15, 1981. This item will remain open pending issuance and review of the final report.

Innediate Action Letter Follow Up The NRC inspector reviewed the ASME welding identified in the ASME Safety-Related 10 Week Work Plan that was authorized by the Immediate Action Letters of January 5,1981, and February 19, 1981, and selec-tively inspected completed and in-process welding. The NRC inspector observed the final weld surface condition on nineteen comoleted field welds in the Component Cooling Water end Chilled Water systens and found the weld sufaces to be consistent with Procedure MECP-4. The NRC inspector also observed ten field welds at various stages of completion, including fitup, root welding and fill welding, in the Component Cooling Water, Baron Recycle, and Chemical and Volume Control systems.

In the areas inspected for welder qualification, weld and inspection documentation, procedure compliance, inspector certification,

welder surveillance and filler metal control, no discrecancies were noted.
