Inspection on April 17 - 19, 1979 Areas Inspected This routine, unannounced inspection involved 16 inspector-hours onsite to review QA implementing procedures for safety related structures (structural steel and supports) and containment (steel structures and supports).

Results Of the two areas inspected, no apparent items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Independent Inspection Effort - Units 1, 2 and 3 This effort included the progress of setting up the construction plant, general progress of construction of the three units and conditions of the equipment and material laydown areas.

Safety Related Structures (Structural Steel and Supports) - Review of QA Implementing Procedure - Units 1, 2 and 3

Prior to this inspection, paragraphs 1.1,1.2.

2.1, 2.5, Appendix 2C, 3.2, 3.8 and Chapter 17 of the PSAR for the Cherokee project were reviewed for the licensee's commitments in this area. On-site the organizations and mode of operations of the QA and QC personnel concerning structural steel were discussed with the management personnel.

Containment (Steel Structures and Supports) - Review of QA Implementing Procedures - Units 1, 2, and 3 Prior to this inspection, paragraphs 3.1, 3.8 and Chapter 17 of the PSAR were reviewed for the licensee's commitments in this area. On-site the organizations and mode of operations of the QA and QC personnel concerning containment erection were discussed with the management personnel.
