SUBJECT:

NOTICE OF VIOLATION (NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS.-50-373/93019;150-374/93019)

Dear Mr. Murphy:

.

This will acknowledge receipt of your letter dated October'14,1993,'-in.respo'nse

_

to our letter dated September 17, 1993, transmitting ~ a Notice. of ' Violation -

.

associated with LaSalle Inspection Report l Nos. ' 50-372/930:9; 50-374/93019.

>

We have reviewed your response and determined that 11..is ; inadequate.

The response does not provide the dates when all corrective. actions. to prevent-recurrence will be completed. Specifically, no date was provided for' completion-of the review of procedure LRP-1490-1, " Construction _ of. Radiological -Control Areas and Step Off Pad Areas".

In addition, there. were no.' dates provided -

indicating when the General Information Notice ( were issued'.

Our review of your letter also raised another concern.

Based on your written response, following_the August 27,~1993, exit meeting at which.this violation.for failure to tape two hoses down was_ presented, ' you state : that_ the; problems-

.

identified in the violation were corrected on August 30; 1993.-. We are concerned that it appears to have taken you three days.to correct this violation-when.the.

immediate corrective action was to sim' ly ensure the hoses were taped as required p

by procedure. We are further concerned that it took until October 5, 1993,'over.

one month, to conduct a plant tour to look for.similar occurrences. The do not

appear to be timely responses to this issue.

,

Since another similar violation has b' en issued in Inspection -Re, cS a. 50 =

e 373/93023; 50-374/93023, your revised response to the first-violat,a and'the

above concerns can be included as part of your response-tol the new violation.

Sincerely,

Brent-Clay' ton, Chief.
