50-335/97-10 AND 50-389/97-10
Dear Mr. Plunkett:
Thank you for your response of November 3, 1997, to our Notice of Violation issued on October 6,
1997, concerning activities conducted at your St.
Lucie facility.
We have evaluated your response and found that it meets the requirement of 10 CFR 2.201 In response to your corrments on examples 3, 8, and 16 not being UFSAR errors and not requiring an update to the UFSAR we note the following: For example 3.
a change to the UFSAR would have been required had your UFSAR Amendment 15 not subsequently removed all figures based on controlled drawings.
For example 8.
a change to the UFSAR was not required but corrective action was taken to correct the discrepancy between the physical plant and the UFSAR description.
For example 16.
we note that your letter dated May 15, 1997, identifying corrective actions for findings identified in NRC Inspection Report 50-335 '89/96-201 stated that Table 9.2-5 would be revised in UFSAR Amendment ll.
Consequently for these three examples for a discrete time period, the UFSAR did not contain the latest material developed.
We will examine the implementation of your corrective actions during future inspections.
