Subject: Combined Inspection Nos. 50-277/81-10 and 50-278/81-11 This refers to your letter of December 7,1981 in response to our letter dated November 9, 1981.
Thank you for informing us of the corrective and preventative actions documented in your letter for Items A and B.2.
These actions will be examined during a subsequent inspection of your licensed program.
With regard to Item B.1, based on a telephone discussion on December 31, 1981 between Mr. N. Gazda of your staff and Mr. R.L. Nimitz of this office, we under-stand that: (1) the General Employee Training Program was expanded on November 30, 1981 and now provides additional emphasis on worker adherance to radiation work permit (RWP) requirements; (2) Health Physics Procedure HP0/CO-4 was revised on December 18, 1981 to require review of RWPs by radiation protection personnel and notification of the Health Physics Engineer of any identified discrepancies; (3) appropriate personnel were trained in the revised procedure on December 30, 1981; and (4) the workers identified as not adhering to RWP requirements will be counseled by January 31, 1982.
